Mixing Electronic and Acoustic Instruments

If you have heard the track 'Lastng' it has distinctive xylophone parts. Initially I had considered just using the Malletkat, but having recently got hold of a rather battered old 3.5 octave Premier Xylophone I set that up in the studio with a couple of CS1000s as overheads. Some of the xylophone parts are triggered electronically through the Numerology Sequencer, but all the main parts are played. I decided to just do 3 takes and then merge parts as required. Sometimes there are even elements of more than 1 take on the track - playing with 4 hands! The xylophone is actually a good instrument to use and applying effects to it gives it more creative scopes than, say, the vibraphone.
